Import of red deer semen from New Zealand - Import Information Note (IIN) DSNZ/1

1. General information 

This Import Information Note (IIN) must be read in conjunction with the IIN for general information for imports of live animals and germplasm, which provides information on pre-notifications, veterinary checks, risk categories and more.

2. Scope 

Import conditions for red deer semen from New Zealand. 

3. Production standards 

The semen must be produced and stored in accordance with the conditions laid down in Annex D of Directive 92/65/EEC

4. Country of origin 

New Zealand only. 

5. Approved establishments 

The semen must be produced in a collection centre approved by the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. 

6. Health certification and import licence 

A general licence (IMP/GEN/2012/04) (PDF, 139 KB, 6 pages) is available for the import of red deer semen from New Zealand.

Consignments must be accompanied by a health certificate which conforms to the model laid down in the annex to the general licence and which is signed by an Official Veterinarian (OV) or inspector of the veterinary authority in the country of origin. 

Consignments presented for import at the Border Control Post (BCP) must be accompanied by the original health certificate(s). Faxed or photocopied certificates are not acceptable.
