Details
On 6 July 2016 the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions appointed Paul Gray CB to lead the second independent review of the PIP assessment preocess. The review was published on 30 March 2017.
The review builds on recommendations from the first review and considers how effectively further evidence is being used to assist:
- the correct claim decision
- the speed and effectiveness of information-gathering
We published the terms of reference for the second review on this page on
6 July 2016.
Call for evidence
We published a call for evidence on 11 July 2016, seeking evidence from individuals and organisations to inform the review.
Evaluation programme
The department is carrying out a quantitative and qualitative evaluation programme of PIP to examine the claimant experience.
Read the initial findings of the PIP claimant survey.
As part of our continuous improvement work, we will consider what further evaluation of PIP would be beneficial, taking into account recommendations from the second review.
Background
Section 89 of the Welfare Reform Act 2012 commits the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions to publish 2 independent reports on the operation of PIP assessments.
