Details

This is a preliminary assessment of the Local Transport Act 2008 that has been prepared by the Department for Transport for submission to the Transport Select Committee.

The assessment has reviewed the act to determine if it has made a useful contribution to the development of transport policies.

This assessment was needed as the government introduced a system of post legislative scrutiny for acts of Parliament in March 2008. Under these arrangements, government departments must do a preliminary assessment of their acts within 5 years of the act receiving Royal Assent.
