Details

This survey-based research study was commissioned by the Department for Transport to provide evidence to inform its consideration of how to treat of business travel time savings in appraisal guidance. Its objective was to provide potential estimates of the use of travel time on trains by UK rail business travellers, together with and of the impact that journey time savings would have on their level of activity during the day and the value of these to both the employer and to the employee. As the report acknowledges, the research related only to current rail business travellers and current travel conditions, and longer term impacts are not considered in detail.
