Details

The main report of Public Bodies 2015 sets out an annual update of progress in:

  • rationalising the public bodies landscape
  • increasing levels of transparency in public bodies
  • delivering wider public value
  • increasing accountability

In addition, this year’s report provides a final summary of the achievements of the 2010 public bodies reform programme, including increases in efficiency.

Public Bodies 2015 provides a single transparent source of top-level data on all non-departmental public bodies, executive agencies and non-ministerial departments. The term quango is sometimes used informally to describe bodies such as these. The data directory shows a snapshot of public bodies as of 31 March 2015 unless otherwise stated.

This information is published to make public bodies more transparent which in turn helps taxpayers hold decision-makers to account. Public Bodies 2015 is an online publication and the data will be updated quarterly, where applicable, for continuing transparency.
