This research aimed to understand:

  • the proportion of customers who recalled receiving or seeing their Annual Tax Summary, and what they used it for
  • customers’ attitudes towards the Annual Tax Summary
  • whether customers preferred to receive their Annual Tax Summary online or by post

The research comprised a survey of 783 people who had paid tax through Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and had received an Annual Tax Summary by post, and 713 who had paid tax through Self Assessment and had received an Annual Tax Summary online.
