Details

This report presents the findings from a study examining the current reference wheelchair standard and the characteristics, prevalence and use of wheeled mobility aids.

The research provides information to help understand if, and how, the current standard may need to evolve. It considers options for the use of the reference wheelchair standard in the design of rail, bus, taxi and private hire vehicles as well as transport infrastructure.

The study was commissioned by the Department for Transport and conducted by the Atkins-Jacobs Joint Venture in 2021.
