The Law Commission Act 2009 (ISBN 9780105414094) came into force on 12 January 2010. It places a duty on the Lord Chancellor to report to Parliament each year on the extent to which Law Commission proposals have been implemented by the Government.

This first annual report covers the period 12 January 2010 to 11 January 2011. Measures which have been implemented, wholly or in part, include: rules against perpetuities and excessive accumulations; third parties - rights against insurers; murder, manslaughter and infanticide; trustee exemption clauses; reforming bribery. Proposals that have not yet been implemented are also outlined along with the Government’s actions to be taken to consider or implement the proposals in the future.

The final section deals with those proposals where the decision has been taken not to implement.

This paper was laid before Parliament in response to a legislative requirement or as a Return to an Address and was ordered to be printed by the House of Commons.
