Details

This guidance is for advisers of organisations providing NHS services, the organisations themselves and other interested parties in their interactions with the CMA in relation to NHS mergers.

The guidance explains:

  • the NHS merger review process
  • procedures including Monitor’s involvement
  • how the CMA assesses an NHS merger
  • where it finds a competition concern that would lead to worse outcomes for patients and/or commissioners, and how it takes into account any benefits arising from the merger

The CMA and Monitor have also published a short guide for managers of NHS providers.

Read the responses to the consultation on this guidance and the CMA’s summary and views on these.
