This report sets out how government departments are working to ensure rural areas are taken into account in designing and delivering policies.

These policies will help to:

  • strengthen the rural economy
  • develop rural infrastructure
  • deliver rural services
  • manage the natural environment

This is the first in a series of annual reports designed to show how rural proofing is being implemented across government.
