Safer Streets Fund application process

Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and local authorities can apply for funding for crime prevention plans in areas affected by high levels of neighbourhood crime, such as burglary and robbery.

Details

The Safer Streets Fund enables PCCs and local authorities to bid for investment in initiatives, such as street lighting and home security, that have been proven to prevent neighbourhood crime.

The fund aims to:

  • reduce neighbourhood crime in areas that receive funding, making residents safer and reducing demand on the police
  • build evidence to strengthen the case for future investment in targeted crime prevention
  • grow local capability to undertake data driven problem solving approaches to crime prevention

Round 1 of the Safer Streets Fund provided funding for the 2020-21 financial year which ended on 31 March 2021. The 2nd round of the Safer Streets Fund was launched to provide funding for the 2021-22 financial year.
