This summary concerns a serious engine room fire and subsequent inadvertent release of carbon dioxide (CO2) on the cruise ship The Calypso while on passage to the Channel Islands from the UK. It particularly draws on lessons learned from the crew’s poor emergency response effort and the need to inspect fixed installation CO2 systems after operation.
