This summary concerns a fatal accident to a crew member during the recovery of a lifeboat, which was being operated as a passenger tender, to the passenger vessel Thomson Celebration. This accident, and a number of others, highlight several needs including the handling, navigation and general safe operation of lifeboats operating as passenger tenders and the design and equipping of all boats used as tenders.
