The Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill has been introduced to make it clear that Rwanda is a safe country for asylum seekers, and that people who have come to the UK illegally can be removed there swiftly. This will build on the legally binding treaty signed by the UK and Rwanda.

The Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Bill received Royal Assent on 25 April 2024 and will now be known as the Safety of Rwanda (Asylum and Immigration) Act 2024.
