The regional director for the south west has set out his deepening concern over poor school performance in a letter to Swindon’s council, headteachers, chairs of governors, regional schools commissioner, multi academy trusts and MPs.

He highlights that:

  • primary school performance, previously showing a positive trend of improvement, is now a concern
  • recent secondary schools inspections indicate a trend of decline

He urges all involved in leading and supporting these schools to take immediate action to bring about rapid and sustained improvements.
