Science and innovation audits help regions to map their research and innovation strengths and identify areas of potential global competitive advantage. They are carried out by groups including local businesses, universities and local enterprise partnerships (LEPs).

This summary report presents the findings of the first wave of audits. The 5 areas in the first wave were:

  • Edinburgh and South East Scotland City region
  • South West England and South East Wales
  • Sheffield City region and Lancashire
  • Greater Manchester and East Cheshire
  • The Midlands Engine
