Details

Provides information about a project to gather evidence from countries that are current leaders in science and innovation, to compare:

  • how the UK’s system performs
  • how the UK can maintain a global leadership position in this area
  • how it impacts on the economy

The project will explore:

  • how we should measure global leadership, or performance, in science and innovation
  • what aspects of the science and innovation system will be most important to the UK’s economic success in the next 10 to 20 years
  • what we can learn from other countries who are currently leaders in science and innovation
  • what aspects of the UK’s strengths and weaknesses we should investigate further

The project will provide an easily accessible evidence base to support the work of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Knowledge and Innovation Group. It will help to determine high priority areas and ideas from other countries to consider, providing input (not recommendations) to the Group by January 2013.
