Details

Section 27 of the Housing Act 1985 (HA 1985) requires local housing authorities to seek the approval of the Regulator of Social Housing (the regulator) to the making of, or in certain circumstances, the variation of management agreements.

The regulator’s power to give an approval under Section 27 only applies in relation to a local housing authority in England which is a registered provider of social housing. Any local housing authority that is a landlord of social housing is subject to compulsory registration under Section 114 of the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008.

This page includes guidance, application forms and the Decision Instrument document as recorded in March 2012 by the regulator (then known as the Tenant Standards Authority).
