Details

The lecture is based on a survey Ofsted carried out between September 2013 and April 2014. Inspectors visited 25 local authorities and a range of charities and organisations to explore the effectiveness of local strategies to ensure the sustained participation of all 16 to 19 year olds.

The lecture also uses evidence from the survey Transforming 16 to 19 education and training: the early implementation of 16 to 19 study programmes. The purpose of this survey was to evaluate how effectively further-education-and-skills providers and schools and academies with sixth forms have implemented the 16 to 19 study programmes introduced in August 2013 and made the best use of the changed funding arrangements for 16–19-year-olds.

The fieldwork for this survey was undertaken from September 2013 to April 2014.
