In July 2019, Professor Carole Mundell, Chief Scientific Adviser at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office led the UK delegation to Encontro Ciência, Portugal’s annual science summit.

In parallel, two other agreements were signed between the UK and Portuguese space agencies to promote civil space cooperation, and between Imperial College and the Portuguese science funding and policy body FCT to promote joint research respectively.

Following a high impact UK presence at Portuguese science summit these new partnerships open up considerable opportunities for the UK research sector and further reinforced the importance of science and innovation in our bilateral relationship.
