Details

The triennial review of the Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) was led by Sarah Stoney, Treasury Solicitor’s Department, who is independent of the Department for Work and Pensions’ stewardship arrangements with the committee.

There were 2 stages to the review. The first stage of this review challenged the continuing need for the Social Security Advisory Committee and questioned whether its functions are necessary and that it remains appropriate to be delivered by government.

The second stage of this review examined whether the body’s control and governance arrangements are in accordance with the recognised principles of good corporate governance.
