Details
The strategic salt protocol sets out arrangements for the allocation of salt from the emergency reserve, if and when required, including the price of salt.
The letter from Baroness Vere of Norbiton, Transport Minister for Roads, is addressed to the leaders of all local highways authorities in England. The letter forms part of the communication recommended by the Quarmby report and welcomes the action being taken by local authorities in preparing for winter 2021 to 2022.
Also being published is Identifying lessons learned by UK highway sector from extreme-weather emergencies (2015 to 2020), an independent report commissioned by the Department for Transport and the Local Government Technical Advisers Group.
