Details
This order was made under the monopoly provisions of the Fair Trading Act 1973. It stopped vets from charging for writing prescriptions until 30 October 2008. This was to allow time for independent pharmacists to enter the market for supplying prescription-only medicines. The order continues to ban prescription medicine suppliers from price-discriminating between vets and pharmacies.
