This report provides an overview of the achievements and work undertaken by the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) and partners in the criminal justice system (CJS) to tackle racial disparities.

A broad programme of work designed to address inequalities is set out, covering youth and adults, ranging from charging decisions through to rehabilitation.

This report includes an update on progress across the 35 recommendations in David Lammy MP’s independent review into the treatment of, and outcomes for, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals in CJS.

The over-representation of people from racial and ethnic minorities in the Criminal Justice System remains a serious concern and something which is an ongoing focus for MOJ and partners.
