Details

The consultation and safeguarding directions issued by the Secretary of State on 15 March 2013, in relation to the Thames Tideway Tunnel project, were revoked with effect from 24 September 2014. On this date the Thames Tideway Tunnel Order 2014 came into force, and the directions were replaced by the safeguarding provisions in article 52, Part 4 of the Order.

These provisions protect land needed for the Thames Tideway Tunnel project and take effect along the whole route of the Tunnel for the duration of the project. They require the affected 15 local authorities, as listed in the letter dated 23 September 2014, where necessary, to consult Thames Water on development before granting planning permission.

Visit the National Infrastructure Planning site to view the Order, decision letter and statement of reasons made by the Secretaries of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government, and for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, published on 12 September 2014.
