Details

The government provides financial support to disabled people and those with health conditions who are unable to work. Many are able to work, but are prevented from doing so because of:

  • false understanding of what individuals are capable of
  • employment support that does not meet people’s needs
  • an inflexible benefits system

The government is already working hard to tackle these issues, but is determined to do even more to help disabled people and those with health conditions to get into, stay in and progress in work.

This paper sets out a range of proposals to further improve employment support.

We published an update on our progress on improving employment support for disabled people and those with health conditions on 8 December 2014.
