Details

The regulations change the period of time for which a person who is absent from Great Britain can remain entitled to Housing Benefit and State Pension Credit. They come into force from 28 July 2016.

In general, this period will be 4 weeks rather than the current 13 weeks. Ministers have decided that, in specific circumstances, the allowable period can be longer than 4 weeks and have given further consideration to this in light of the Social Security Advisory Committee’s (SSAC’s) report.
