This is a report by the Social Security Advisory Committee (SSAC) on the Jobseeker’s Allowance (Mandatory Work Activity Scheme) Regulations 2011 under Section 174(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992. It includes a statement by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in accordance with Section 174(2) of that Act.

Mandatory Work Activity is intended to help claimants who may have limited or no experience of work, or have little or no understanding of the behaviours required to get and keep work.
