The role of the Law Commission is to keep the legal system under review and make recommendations for change, in order to ensure that the law is as simple, fair, modern and cost-effective as possible. The annual report contains details of its work during 2001, including: the report on land registration; areas of law reform work relating to common law, commercial law, criminal law, evidence and procedure, housing and administrative justice, statute law, property and trust law; targets and publications.
