Details

The council commissioned a review which investigated the development of chronic adverse effects on cognitive functioning, and psychiatric disorders following long-term occupational exposure to organic solvents (chemical compounds).

Having considered the evidence, the council concluded that exposure to solvents might result in some neurobehavioural changes. Howver, the strength and consistency of the evidence was not enough to persuade the council to recommend changes to the list of prescribed diseases for which people can claim Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.
