In 2019, the UK government commissioned Cambridge Policy Consultants to explore whether the creation of a small subvention fund - a direct type of financial support - to help organisations bidding and hosting business events would help the UK maintain its position as a leading nation hosting international business events in Europe.

The report, which presents findings from an international literature review and interviews with Destination Management Organisations across the UK and with VisitBritain was completed in May 2019.
