The support network joint capability concept, dated 3 March 2010, provides a view of the evolution of the multiple lines and types of support into a single integrated UK defence support network.
This network provide a framework within which all force support functions can be controlled and executed. It seeks to incorporate future initiatives to deliver an affordable and efficient support network that balances requirements and risks with the need for agility and flexibility. However, it will also require a cultural change along with amendments for policy doctrine and procedures, especially where comprehensive approach and increasing use of contractor support challenges are to be met. Finally, in considering the forthcoming defence review, this concept advocates an evolutionary rather than revolutionary development.
