This research explores the proposal of expanding the scope of the transport analysis guidance (TAG) to include the impacts of transport investment on unemployment.

The report focuses on the current TAG appraisal framework and how it could be improved so future transport projects will include wider economic impacts (WEI) like unemployment.

TAG provides information on the role of transport modelling and appraisal and how the transport appraisal process supports the development of investment decisions to support a business case.

This research was produced for the Department for Transport on behalf of the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds.
