Details

The recruitment, selection and subsequent induction of a new trustee into a charity are an opportunity to improve its effectiveness.

Where all three elements work properly it can lead to a balanced, well informed, and effective trustee body that governs the charity well.

Where the process is weak or absent, the effectiveness of the trustee board may be hampered which can lead to major problems for the charity and its beneficiaries.

The report sets out the findings of the Charity Commission’s examination of its relevant casework and an NOP postal survey of trustee recruitment, selection and induction practices in 1,400 charities.
