The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills carried out a triennial review of the UK Atomic Energy Authority, as it is one of its non-departmental public bodies (NDPBs).

The review was in 2 stages:

  • a challenge to the continuing need for the UKAEA, both its functions and form
  • a review of the control and governance arrangements in place
