Details

The UK needs to have a National Radon Action Plan (NRAP) under the Ionising Radiation (Basic Safety Standards) (Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2018, SI 2018/482, which put into practice part of the Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013/59/EURATOM.

The NRAP includes:

  • information on the health risks from public exposure to radon
  • national strategy and arrangements for managing exposure to radon, in homes and workplaces
  • arrangements for the government and private industry to communicate radon guidance to the public and local authorities

Following the public consultation in summer 2018, the comments were considered by the authors, and the draft NRAP was amended and updated.

The NRAP will be reviewed in not more than 5 years.
