Details

This research consists of 2 parts:

  • an evidence review of recent literature and data to understand how car ownership is changing in the UK

  • qualitative research that explores the current decision-making process and customer journey for buying or relinquishing a car in England – this builds on the findings of the evidence review

The National Centre for Social Research conducted the evidence review on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT) during Autumn and Winter of 2023 to 2024.

The qualitative research was conducted by Thinks Insight and Strategy on behalf of DfT during Winter of 2023 to 2024.
