Details

Where appropriate, renewable fuel suppliers can use voluntary schemes to provide evidence to support claims that relevant fuel complies with the required sustainability criteria. The voluntary schemes listed are recognised as providing evidence to help substantiate claims of compliance with the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) sustainability criteria.

The voluntary schemes listed have been evaluated against the RTFO criteria but to date have not been evaluated against the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) Mandate criteria. However, suppliers may use voluntary scheme evidence to support sustainability claims under the SAF Mandate. When doing this, they should consider the specific criteria of the SAF Mandate, including the requirement to provide actual value greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations.

Using a voluntary scheme provides valuable evidence to support applications for certificates but does not guarantee certificates will be issued. The Administrator still reserves the right to request more information where necessary.

Further information on evidence requirements for the RTFO and the recognition process for voluntary schemes is available.
