In August 2022, qualitative interviews with members of the public were conducted to find out what people thought about a possible variation to the High Speed 2 (HS2) Need to Sell (NTS) scheme. The research was commissioned by the Department for Transport (DfT) and undertaken by Ipsos UK.

This report contains the findings, along with analysis of what the researchers were told and the resulting recommendations.

The information contained could be relevant to anyone with an interest in the HS2 NTS scheme or those who responded to the 2021 HS2 land and property review proposals public consultation that included questions about the proposed variation to NTS.

DfT is not proposing any changes to NTS as a result of this report.
