March 2020 - Estimate of Employment in DCMS sectors and subsectors: Age, Home-working

These data show the estimated number of filled jobs in DCMS sectors and subsectors in 2018. Estimates are broken down by age, and separately by working location.

In 2018, 5.0 million jobs in DCMS sectors were filled by those aged under 70 years old, whilst 84 thousand were filled by those aged 70 or over. The equivalent figures for the UK economy were 32.7 million and 493 thousand, respectively.

In 2018, 0.5 million jobs in DCMS sectors were filled by people who worked from home, with a further 4.6 million filled by those who worked elsewhere. The equivalent figures for the UK economy were 1.9 million and 31.2 million, respectively.

The method used to calculate estimates for the tourism sector has changed since the previous employment release and these figures should not be compared to the standard DCMS Economic Estimates: Employment publications.

March 2020 - Estimates of employment in DCMS sectors and subsectors by quarter, 2010 to quarter 3 2019

These data show the estimated number of filled jobs in DCMS sectors, except Tourism, and subsectors between 2010 and quarter 3 , 2019. These are experimental statistics which have been produced using a different method to the standard DCMS Economic Estimates: Employment publications. They provide an indication of seasonality and general trends in employment in DCMS sectors, but users should refer to the published annual employment reports for estimates of the absolute level of employment in DCMS sectors.

In the first quarter of 2019, there were 4.1 million filled jobs in DCMS sectors, an increase of 19.2% compared to the same quarter in 2010. Filled jobs in the UK economy as a whole are estimated to have increased by 12.5% over the same period.
