The underlying data has been subject to minor amendments since this release was first published on 29 June. This has resulted in a number of small changes to the figures in this release. The only figures in the main text affected are the estimated queuing times at Gatwick (revised from 5.1 to 5.2 minutes) and at Manchester (from 7.4 to 7.3 minutes)
Air passenger satisfaction in 2015 was similar to the previous year with:
- 93% of air passengers saying they were very or fairly satisfied
- 67% of air passengers saying they were very satisfied
- 3% of air passengers saying they were dissatisfied
at surveyed airports.
The aspects of security screening with which passengers were least satisfied were:
- queuing (5%)
- slow speed of processing (4%)
- staff attitudes/politeness (3%)
- removal of shoes (3%)
- restriction of liquids (2%)
The majority of passengers (78%) said there was no aspect with which they were least satisfied. 92% of passengers agreed that any inconvenience caused by the security screening was acceptable.
The average time passengers said they spent queuing for security screening was similar to the previous year (7.1 minutes for 2014 and 2015). In 2015 average queuing time ranged from 5.2 minutes at Gatwick to 12.1 minutes at Stansted.
