These statistics, for 31 May 2014, show the number and proportion of children living in households where at least one parent or guardian claimed one or more of the following out-of-work benefits:

  • Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Incapacity Benefit/Severe Disablement Allowance
  • Pension Credit

The proportion is calculated by dividing the number of children living in out-of-work households by the total number of children living in the local authority according to the 2014 mid-year population estimates reported by the Office for National Statistics.
