Details

This experimental statistical first release (SFR) uses data from the statutory children’s social work workforce data collection.

It covers:

  • number of social workers
  • number of starters and leavers
  • vacancy rate of social workers
  • turnover rate of social workers
  • sickness absence of social workers
  • number of agency workers

Data was collected from all local authorities. The publication is based on an individual social worker level collection, previous years have been based on an aggregate data return. This is part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of data for these experimental official statistics.
