Details

The 61st annual report on the Export of Objects of Cultural Interest by the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of Art and Objects of Cultural Interest. Between 1 May 2014 and 30 April 2015, 17 cases were considered by the Reviewing Committee. 12 were deferred by the Secretary of State following the recommendation of the Committee.

The export deferred items included a white marble sculpture by Lorenzo Bartolini, an English translation of a manuscript by Desiderius Erasmus and a William Burges vase.

Five items were bought by public institutions.

Matching funds could not be raised for 7 items which included The Adoration of the Magi, by John Flaxman RA, a marble statue of Aphrodite a collection of works by Thomas Baines, North Australian Expedition,1855-57and a statue of Sekhemka.
