Details

Statistics on higher education initial participation rates are published as “Participation rates in higher education: academic years 2006/07 to 2009/10 (Provisional)” and include data on 17-30 year old first-time HE entrants to UK HE institutions and English, Welsh and Scottish FE colleges who remain in HE for at least six months.

Provisional figures for academic year 2009 to 2010 exclude students studying in Welsh further education colleges. This is due to a delay in receiving data from the Welsh Assembly Government. Due to the small number of these students who count towards the higher education initial participation rate, it is estimated their exclusion will not affect the figure to the level of accuracy reported. If, on receipt of this data, the academic year 2009 to 2010 provisional figure changes, an updated version of this release will be published.
