The statistics on police use of force within this release cover incidents in England and Wales between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. Data was collected from the 43 Home Office funded police forces in England and Wales.

These statistics are currently designated as ‘experimental statistics’ and should be used with caution. Experimental statistics are published in order to involve users and stakeholders in their development and as a means to improve quality at an early stage.
