Details

The Annual Prison Performance Ratings are published to ensure transparency of the final performance assessments of both public sector and privately-managed prisons across England and Wales.

The Annual Prison Performance Ratings covers overall performance assessments for all prisons, alongside assessments for individual performance measures for each prison. This publication covers reporting for the period between the 1st of April 2018 and the 31st of March 2019. The overall performance of each prison within this period has been graded into one of the following four ratings:

4: Performance is exceptional 3: Performance is acceptable 2: Performance is of concern 1: Performance is of serious concern.

The Annual Prison Performance Ratings publication is produced and handled by the Ministry of Justice’s (MOJ) analytical professionals and production staff. Pre-release access of up to 24 hours is granted to the following persons:
