Quarterly bus feedback outcome
Following a user feedback exercise in June 2015 on the continuation of the quarterly bus statistics, a statistical release will not accompany the statistics for this quarter.
A statistical release will be published every six months (rather than every quarter) in January to March, for release in June 2016 and July to September, for release in December 2016.
Quarterly bus statistics will continue to be published in online spreadsheet tables every quarter. Please see the annual bus statistics annual report for year ending March 2015 for further information.
For the year ending December 2015, the number of local bus passenger journeys in:
- England was 4.57 billion, a 2.0% decrease
- London decreased by 2.2%
Bus use in England outside London decreased by 1.7% over the same period.
Comparing October to December 2015 bus data to the same period last year, we see:
- there was a 3.0% decrease in England
- bus use in London decreased by 3.6%
in local bus passenger journeys
In the same period, bus:
- use in England outside London decreased by 2.4%.
- passenger journeys decreased in Wales and Scotland
Comparing the local bus fares index figures for England for December 2015 with December 2014, there was an increase of 2.7%. This result is split by:
- 2.7% in London
- 3.3% in metropolitan areas
- 2.3% in non-metropolitan areas
The retail prices index increased by 1.2% over the same 12 month period.
Local bus fares increased by:
- 3.2% in Scotland
- 1.1% in Wales
