Details

Final statistics on the number of sea passengers which include all vehicle drivers, their passengers and foot passengers on ferries and cruise ships. This is an update of the provisional data published in February 2020.

In 2019:

  • international sea passenger numbers have decreased by 5% to 20.7 million
  • domestic sea passenger numbers decreased by 2% to 42.0 million
  • the total number of international short sea passengers (ferry routes) decreased by 6% to 18.4 million
  • cruise passenger numbers remained broadly stable at 2.2 million, an increase of 63% compared to 2009

Provisional figures for short sea routes for 2020 will be published in February 2021.
