Statistics on civilian search and rescue helicopter (SARH) activity in the United Kingdom, based on details of taskings recorded by the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (ARCC).
During July to September 2018:
- there were 798 civilian SARH taskings
- Newquay, Caernarfon and Prestwick responded to the most taskings 111, 110 and 108 taskings respectively
- 49% of taskings involved rescue or recovery
- land and coastal based taskings accounted for 48% and 40% of all taskings respectively, with 12% of taskings being maritime
- 482 people rescued across all taskings
- 81 people assisted across all taskings
- 180 (23%) taskings took place in beach or cliff areas
- 142 (18%) in mountainous areas
- 103 (13%) tasked to vessels in distress
- 373 (47%) recorded as other

These statistics, as of June 2018 are now designated as National Statistics. National Statistics are produced to high professional standards as set out in the Code of Practice for Statistics. They undergo regular quality assurance to ensure they meet customer needs.
